Specialized Consultative Services offers expertise, training and technical assistance in a specialty area to assist family members and support staff in helping individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Under this model, family members and caregivers are trained by licensed professionals on how to carry out therapeutic interventions to improve the individual’s quality of life.

The clinical team supports individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) and behavioral health challenges. We develop a uniquely tailored intervention plan to help each unique person acquire and  improve their social life and community participation.

What is Specialized Consultative Services?

Specialized Consultative Services provides individuals and their treatment team with training and technical assistance in a specialty area—Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).  This allows for behavior analytic interventions to be developed and implemented to help family and caregivers learn how to apply these interventions for maximizing success. One of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) will work with the team to develop a formal plan to assist with teaching new skills and helping the individual reach their full potential.

What Isn’t Covered in Specialized Consultative Services?

Our services are utilized solely for the purpose of accessing additional services. referrals, etc. This is not covered by Specialized Consultative Services.

  • Direct, necessary 1:1 care for the individual
  • Primary care coordination or facilitating additional care
  • Daily, ongoing intensive supports for the individual
How can I request Specialized Consultative Services?

An individual must qualify for and receive Medicaid services. No specific diagnosis or age limits are required. This service should be requested from the managed care organization (MCO) and can be added into the individual’s Individual Support Plan (ISP).

Who is involved in the services?

Easterseals UCP and our team of professionals will work with you and your care coordinator to assist with the referral/intake process.  We will work with you and the entire treatment team to determine the individual’s preferences, goals, dreams and help develop a plan of action.

How is the service delivered?

Specialized Consultative Services can be provided in-person or by telehealth (phone calls, video calls, etc.). Our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will work alongside the individual and provide training to the caregivers and all other treatment team members who are involved in care.

What is to be expected from Specialized Consultative Services?
  • Regularly scheduled visits to review progress, share reports and discuss any needed modifications.
  • Data will be collected by all members of the team.
