ESUCP Receives Face Mask Donation

When Bonnie isn’t helping people with mental health challenges and disabilities, she’s reaching new levels competing with her video game opponents for fun. Thanks to her love of gaming, Bonnie was able to fill a huge need for PPE face masks for staff.

As a program supervisor for Easterseals UCP Individual + Community Services , Bonnie helps adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in learning daily living skills. With COVID safety concerns being at the top of everyone’s list, she purchased a few face masks from Meta Threads, a gaming apparel and accessory company. While ordering she noticed the company was offering to help organizations in need for masks. Bonnie wrote a compelling email about the commitment of the frontline at Easterseals UCP. She said, “What’s the worst that could happen, they say no. What’s the best that could happen, they say yes. It was worth a shot.”

Her gaming and email paid off. Meta Threads awarded Easterseals UCP with the donation of 5,000 masks so that the frontline can continue working with adults and children in NC and VA.

“It’s pretty overwhelming as I’m in the office packing up the new masks, gloves and sanitizer to ship out to staff,” says Bonnie. “I’m very happy!”

Easterseals UCP is grateful for this donation and thankful to Bonnie for reaching out to Meta Threads. She said, “Who would have thought that years of playing Legend of Zelda would help me!”
