What We’re Looking For
To join our team, you must be willing to provide care in various community settings, have a passion for helping others, have experience with medication administration, education, and monitoring and know how to document the same in MAR. We also require the following:
- An active, unrestricted nursing license to practice in North Carolina or Virginia (RN, APRN or LPN when applicable)
- A valid driver’s license, current auto insurance and a good driving record
- Prior mental health experience preferred
- Bilingual (any language) is a plus!

Essential Job Functions:
· Implementation of Center-Based Therapeutic Services and other supports for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental illness or behavioral health needs.
· Maintains contact with families and/or providers upon admission to Center Based Services to receive and provide updates regarding medical needs of clients
· Connects with healthcare providers to obtain and transcribe physician orders for medication administration and medical procedures. Development of Medication Administration Records (MAR) for Resource Center clients
· Provides ongoing medical training and oversight to Center Based Direct Support Professionals.
· Provides support for medical-related needs at admissions and discharges for Resource Center guests
· Provides assessment and treatment by providing basic health exams and management of medication and required health treatments.
· Retrospective service review to ensure services provided were in accordance with local, state and federal requirements.
· Participates in transition planning for individuals utilizing the START Resource Center
· Identifies, coordinates and monitors necessary training for Resource Center program staff.
· Ensures the collection of required data and documentation on guest’s health-related needs while receiving services at the Resource Center.
· Facilitates on-site and video consultation with Medical and Clinical Directors for individuals served by the NC START Central program.
· Work in partnership with our Medical and Clinical Directors, to attend to the needs of our individuals with complex medical needs.
· Limited after hours and weekend on call support for the Resource Center DSPs.
· Follows all ESUCP procedures as appropriate to position.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Current valid, unrestricted License as a Registered Nurse in state of North Carolina required.
· Qualification to provide CPR/First Aid training strongly preferred
· Experience supporting clients with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
· Experience supporting clients with complex mental health diagnoses preferred.
· Knowledge of the MH and I/DD systems of care preferred.
· Must demonstrate capacity to effectively communicate verbally and in written form.
· Experience with crisis prevention and intervention services preferred.
· Knowledge and ability to utilize computer word processing and data programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Web-based data entry, etc.
Environment:
· Services will be provided in a center based environment
· Travel to the NC START Central Resource Center will be required.
