Community Support Team Intern

 

Easterseals UCP is seeking an intern to assist in Behavioral Health in the Summer and/or Fall of 2022. The intern will treat clients with mental health or substance use disorder diagnoses that meet the needs of two life domains described in the CST service definition.

This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to use skills acquired in school and apply them in a professional setting to gain a better understanding of an Community Support Team Member.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Provides crisis, case management, and individual/family therapy to prevent the need for out of home placement for children diagnosed with a mental health disorder
  • Ability to deliver essential services in various environments such as:
    • Schools
    • Homes
    • Detention Centers and Jails (State funding only)
    • Homeless Shelters
    • Street Locations
  • Responsible for coordinating initial assessment and the development of the youth’s Person-Centered Plan (PCP)
  • Ability to evaluate the nature of the crises, intervene and diffuse the crises likelihood of a recurrence
  • Ability to link needed community services and resources to clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a mental health undergraduate or graduate program
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and internet applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to carry out assigned projects to completion
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Bilingual is a plus!
